
Maj Robert Williams
2009-2010 Commander
Major Williams graduated from Hastings College, Hastings
Nebraska in May 1968. In December 1968, Major Williams entered
the Air Force thru the “delayed enlistment program”. While
completing Air Force Basic Training he was selected for Officer
Training School and in June 1969 he received his commission as a
Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Air Force. Upon completion of
Aircraft Maintenance Officer School at Chanute Air Force Base,
Illinois he was assigned to the 28th Bomb Wing,
Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota as a Squadron Maintenance
Officer. His 20-year Air Force career included assignments to
U-Tapao Thailand, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska (2 tours
including one to Headquarters, Strategic Air Command), Chanute
Air Force Base Illinois ( a second time where he met and married
Virginia), Mildenhall Air Force Base, United Kingdom, and Minot
Air Force Base, North Dakota where he retired in December 1988.
He has been married to his wife, Virginia,
for 30 years. They have lived in Grapevine Texas for the last
20 years. They have two sons, Michael of Fort Worth who is an
Eagle Scout and Wesley Creek of Lakeland, Florida. They have
one granddaughter, Samantha also of Fort Worth. Major Williams
has just completed 20 years with FlightSafety International. He
has been involved with scouting for more than 25 years and
currently serves as Chartered Organizational Representative for
scout units with the First United Methodist Church of
Grapevine.
Since joining the MOWW and the Fort Worth
Chapter, in 2004, Major Williams has represented our chapter and
the Order as Scouting Liaison responsible for the presentation
of the MOWW Eagle Scout Certificates to more than 40 Eagle
Scouts each year. He also makes sure the MOWW Girl Scout Gold
Award Certificates are presented to Girl Scout Gold Award
recipients at their annual banquet. Prior to being elected
Chapter Commander, Major Williams has served as both Junior and
Senior Vice Commander. He has served as the unit coordinator
and flag bearer for our Massing of the Colors ceremonies. He is
currently a member of the MOWW National Scouting Committee. He
and his wife are Perpetual Members of the Order.
